John 6:48

I am the bread of life.

Surely you will summon nations you know not, and nations you do not know will come running to you, because of the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendor - Isaiah 55:5

The day of small things

Zechariah 4:10 For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro through the whole earth.

The scripture ask an important question of us today, demanding to know.about those who despised the day of small things or humble beginning as some other translations records it. We may indeed expand this question to also say that the scripture also wants to know why such would also despise the days of humble beginning.

Does God still speak

Ezekiel 14:2-3 And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, Son of man, these men have taken their idols into their heart, and put the stumbling block of their iniquity before their face: should I be inquired of at all by them?

One question that readily comes to the mind of almost every believer is the quest to know if God still speaks. We ask does God still really speak to people as the scripture makes out.

Do not give in to offence

Matthew 18:7-9 Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes! If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire.  And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire.
There are couple of hard truth which our Lord taught to his disciples, let us spend some time to examine them in addition to the wisdom we can gain from them. Our Lord spoke of the offences that is the world, i want you to know

His ways are different from ours

Isaiah 55: 6 - 9 “Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
One of the ways through which those of us who call upon the name of God can easily become vulnerable and succumb to anxiety, worry and lack of peace is when we ignore certain points about God and the manner of relationship we have with him. Man since his fall has cultivated a rebellious nature and as a result has been in the battle of will with his God.

Endurance and obedience comes before blessing

Genesis 16:8-10 And He said, Hagar, Sarais maid, where have you come from, and where are you going? She said, I am fleeing from the presence of my mistress Sarai. The Angel of the Lord said to her, Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hand. Then the Angel of the Lord said to her, I will multiply your descendants exceedingly, so that they shall not be counted for multitude.
Perserverance or endurance remains a potent attribute that every believer must posess abudance in other for their faith to be fruitful, as a result it is only those who can endure that would always receive the blessings of God.

Food For The day

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God -Philippians 4:6.

In instructing believers not to be anxious for anything, is the scripture saying to us that there is nothing out there to make believers anxious, or is it saying believers should pretend all is well in the face of certain realities he is confronted with? Perhaps the question arising would be , how can a believer keep anxieties away from his life? Truth be told the believer is not asked to deny the realities of life which he is being confronted with, as a matter of fact the life of believers is similar in many respect to that of his fellow sojourners in the world but who do not share in the Christian faith, they are all exposed to the realities of life which every man is faced with in his fallen nature and the world he has built for himself.

He is confronted with his own dosage of trials, challenges, difficulties, pain and sorrow, enough to induce fear and cause him tremble as well as to make him anxious if such does not know how to bring it under control. He is faced with enough uncertainties about his tomorrow, about the life of his children, about his career, his unpaid debts and mounting bills, his failing health...just about enough misery in the world to tempt or pressurise him to give in to anxiety.

The believer is not asked to simply sweep all of these under the carpet with a single rejoice and be worry free. Rather he is asked to develop over time the Christian attitude for confronting these issues. This attitude begins by putting ones trust in the Lord and by learning how to delight ourselves in him and him alone
