Isaiah 55 : 1-2

Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labour on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.

Judges 11:30 And Jephthah made a vow to the Lord: “If you give the Ammonites into my hands,

There is an important message to take on board in our relationship with God, one which appears to have gone missing on Jephthah when he decided to make the vow mentioned in this passage, one which brought him great sorrow. To start with why did Jephthah make this vow?

Joshua 1:8 - Do not let this Book of Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Joshua had just taken over the mantle of leadership from Moses who was also his mentor. Now that was some big shoes he was stepping into never mind filling, it was an intimidating prospect having witnessed first hand the wonders God  had performed  through Moses.

A Prisoner of Hope

Zechariah 9:12 Return to your stronghold, O prisoners of hope; today I declare that I will restore to you double.

While it is quite easy for one to read this passage and be delighted by the declaration and proclamation of double blessings, there is of course another salient point such must equally take to heart else such might be holding onto a bubble that would be deflated very soon.

Saying it is as it is....

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The doctor finished reading the medical report in front of him lifted up his head , stared at the rich powerful politician patient in front of him and said 'Sir going by the reports before me, if you do not change your lifestyle, your eating habbits, cut out the smoking and drinking while doing more exercises.....you will die pretty soon'.

What makes our fate in this life as believers different from others?

Mathew 7:24 -27 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

One of the many blind spots in our walk of faith is revealed by the message from today's passage. Let us ask the question, what makes our fate in this life as believers different from others? Bear with me a little when i use the word 'believers', it is a bit loose in its application, but our Lord tightened this by clarifying for us the true meaning of what a believer is....he described such as..'everyone who hears and obeys his words by putting them to use'.

Food For The day

Then the Israelites retreated,  but Eleazar stood his ground and struck down the Philistines till his hand grew tired and froze to the sword. The LORD brought about a great victory that day.- 2 Samuel 23:9b -10.

Before you give in to the defeat that is staring you in the face, I want you to pause and meditate on this scripture verse. You see what stood between Eleazar and defeat was his refusal to give up his ground even in the face of fatigue, unlike the others who retreated in defeat. Instead he made a stand refusing to quit the battle ground, as a result the Lord used his endurance to bring about a great victory. You see faith without endurance cannot produce the desired result, therefore stand your ground, refuse to wilt you are closer to your breakthrough than you've ever imagined.

Matthew 7:7-8
“[Ask, Seek, Knock] ?Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
