The Attitude for confronting temptations and sin

PDF

For sin shall not have dominion over you - Romans 6:14.

We would all face temptations even in our new nature and as born again Christians. And for anyone who is currently struggling with sin, there is one attitude that we all need to maintain through it all. It is an attitude that says no matter how hard it is to resist and no matter how hard the struggle to quit the sinful habit might be, 'sin shall not have dominion over me', it is an attitude that says this situation shall not have dominion over me because the word of God declared it.

This attitude should be reinforced by the position of the scripture, the positional truth that boldly declared that  ˜Sin shall not have dominion over the us because we have died to sin in our new nature and have received the power of life in our new nature. What is this attitude saying? That no matter how prolonged, no matter how hard the struggle, no matter the failing and shortcomings , there is going to be only one winner in the battle with either temptation or sin and that winner is  you, and this is so because you now have the nature of God and his seed dwells in you . it is as a result of this that sin no longer has have dominion over you.

You are no longer helpless in the hands of sin and temptation, you are a new creature, that old man has gone , the new man has died to sin and is not helpless in the hands of sin and temptation. You see, according to the word of God the new man is able to do all things through the power that is available in Christ. That is the attitude you must put on all the time.

1 Peter 1:18-19
“For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.”
