John 6:35

Then Jesus declared, I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.

Our Attitude towards the world.

PDF

And do not be conformed to this world.. Romans 12:2.

You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavour, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. - Mathew 5:13-16.

These verses very much sums up what our attitude towards the world should be, we should no longer conform to the standards of this world, we should no longer allow the world views and opinions to shape as well regulate the way we think or live, rather the opposite should be the case. The scripture made it clear that we are the people who should be influencing the world, we are the ones who should be impacting the world, we are the ones that God through his word which lives in us, should now be framing the world according to the power of that word.

Our attitude should be like those who bring changes, this is what as the priests of the most high we have been called to do, this is the influence which as ambassadors of the Kingdom of God, we are called to wield and this is role which as the children of the Most High we have been called to play. We should imbibe an attitude that refuses to conform anymore to the standards of the world, an attitude that recognises that we have been called as well as fully empowered to make a change in the world. Just as salt seasons and preserves food, we are called the salt of the world and just as light eradicates darkness, we are called the light of the world. We should be able to develop a right attitude from this information.

This attitude needs to be careful to avoid being judgemental and condescending as it would mar the beauty of the role we are called to play in this world. Instead this attitude must live and carry out it's assigned task in the spirit of love and humility, same spirit that Jesus displayed and left to us a model worth emulating.
