John 6:51

I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats this bread, he will live for ever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

Our Attitude in the midst of crisis

Our Attitude in the midst of crisis

God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; - Psalms 46:1-2.

Life is not a bed of roses, rather it is how we choose to make it and how we prepare it that can turn it into one. The path of life is not that which would take us on a level plain all the time, many would say it is full of ups and downs, nevertheless it can be made a level path (God's promise) , the road of life is not always straight as it could take crooked curves and turns, nevertheless we can chose to make it straight (once again, God's promise), if we know the secret of how to handle every life situation. This is where developing a right attitude for times of crisis in life becomes expedient. That crisis would come in life is a foregone conclusion, what is up for scrutiny is how to deal with them when show up, and dealing with them begins with the right attitude.

As believers we must jettison every attitude that takes us headlong into crisis situation with a sense of helplessness and hopelessness because we are not, we never were and never would be except the one who out of ignorance steps into crisis with this wrong attitude. It would be of no surprise therefore if such are overwhelmed by the crisis. We must also be careful not walk about with an attitude that refuses to acknowledge that even though we are believers, we are still exposed to these crises ourselves since it (crisis) is the product of the imperfect world which we live in. Walking about with this wrong attitude can also leave such believers feeling short changed.

So what is the right attitude? Well it is the attitude that recognises that we have a place of refuge, a place where we can draw strength from and a Helper ready to render help in any situation of life. It is an attitude that recognises that the name of Jesus is a place of refuge, a hiding place that we can run to for help at any time we are faced with the crisis of life. It is an attitude that recognises that because of what Jesus did for us on the cross, we have an access to the throne of grace for help in time of need. There is no room for hopelessness or helplessness when we cultivate this attitude, rather we begin to walk and we confidently declare that there are no mountains and valley in our life as we see everything from mountain top where this attitude permanently places us. You see this attitude puts us on top of every crisis there is in life, you see it is all about the attitude which the word of God clothes us with.

1 Peter 1:18-19
“For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.”
