Isaiah 55 : 1-2

Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labour on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.

Be careful with your expectations

There is the need at this point to sound this important warning and it is about the need to be careful with how we put our expectations to use. We need to be careful to allow our expectations to be driven only by the right motives which faith gives. We need to allow our expectations to be managed by the truth which faith is built upon, we must allow our expectation to be driven by the information and the knowledge which faith makes available. Expectations not properly managed can easily turn sour as we have seen. You see there are many who embark on such journey in life similar to that of Lot and Elimelech, or simply take decisions based on expectations that are driven solely by their feelings, opinions and circumstantial evidence as opposed to faith (that comes by hearing the truth which the word of God represents), this is a wrong way to administer the power of expectations.

This is the message that we need to take on board as the exposition progresses. What message? Well the message that says that our expectations would always produce a result whether good or bad, as a result of this we need  to make sure that it produces only the right results for us all of the time. In order to for this to happen, it must work hand in hand with faith and must be deployed in the appropriate manner.  It must be used in the right manner and in order to do this, we must ensure that it is always motivated by faith alone. You see the expectation that is motivated by faith is guaranteed to produce desirable results while on the other hand, the faith that is released through the power of expectation is guaranteed to produce for the believer.

“[Doing Good to All] Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted.”
