John 6:51

I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats this bread, he will live for ever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

Endurance and obedience comes before blessing

Genesis 16:8-10 And He said, Hagar, Sarais maid, where have you come from, and where are you going? She said, I am fleeing from the presence of my mistress Sarai. The Angel of the Lord said to her, Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hand. Then the Angel of the Lord said to her, I will multiply your descendants exceedingly, so that they shall not be counted for multitude.

Perserverance or endurance remains a potent attribute that every believer must posess abudance in other for their faith to be fruitful, as a result it is only those who can endure that would always receive the blessings of God.
The story of Hagar is one that helps us to understand why perseverance is such a potent tool. Hagar was the servant of Sarah,Abrahams wife, she ran away from her mistress who had subjected her life to that of misery, life had become unbearable for her (Genesis16:6) and her only solution, so she thought, was to run away. But God had a different plan for her and the baby she was carrying, he had a plan to bless him and make him father of nations as well as aresult of being the son of Abraham. You see by law of inheritance, he was entitled to the blessing that had been pronounced upon Abraham, although he was not the main heir, nevertheless he carried the blood of Abraham and as such he had a share in the blessing contrary to the thoughts of Sarah., God was not oblivious to what Hagar was going through, God saw it all but he had appointed a time when he would act, a time he calls the right time. Hagar was told to go back to her mistress and she obeyed. She knew she was going back to endure more harh treatment, but nevertheless she obeyed.

There are no shortcuts into God's blessings and the ability to endure remains a virtue that can help us as believers not to miss out of the promises of God.If Hagar had not gone back, her son would have been denied of his inheritance.

James 5:11 Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.

Wherever the name of Abraham is mentioned the story of Hagar and the name of Ishmael is not far off. He was not yet born at the time and if his mother had not obeyed, we would never have heard about the name but through his mother's obedience and endurance, he came into his inheritance. His mother's endurance delievered him into God's appointed time and blessing, when the time came they were told to leave, this time they did with their inheritance.. Folks many have walked away in disobedience and the inability to endure, not only did they run away from the place that God has destined as their place of visitation, not only are they still on the run, the saddest part of it all is that they are running into oblivion. I pray today, that would. not be your portion.

If you are reading this today and you are comtemplating on quitting, believing that it is unusual to put up with hardship before coming into God.s favor and blessing, please think again, David spent years in the wilderness, Joseph went through prison on his way to the palace, Abraham spent years wandering about in the wilderness before he had Isaac, Israel was in bondage for 400 years and another 40 before they made it to the promised land. Our Lord Jesus went to the cross on the way to the glory that was set before him, he endured the shame of the cross and came into a name that is higher than any other name. The Lord is saying to you, remain steadfast, your time of visitation is around the corner.

Hebrews 12:3 For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.

If you are reading this and you are already on the run , running to nowhere in particular like Hagar or the prodicgal son, i pray that the spirit that ministered to the prodigal son would do the same to you and i pray that the spirit of obedience would come upon you, enabling you to give heed and return home. Finally i pray that you will be enabled by power in your inner man to be able to stand and to receive that which is yours in Christ Jesus,  Amen.
