Psalm 1: 2-3

Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

Is anything too hard for the Lord?

Abraham and Sarah were already very old, and Sarah was past the age of childbearing…… Is anything too hard for the Lord? -Genesis 18:11,14

While it is true that the realities of our daily existence in the body of flesh presents us with certain data called facts, we need to pause a little to ask the question especially for those who are of faith. We need to ask the question "By Whose report?".

I say this because from the womb of one that the reports of men declared as being barren and  past the childbearing age, came Isaac, the one who inherited the promise that was made to Abraham. To ask this question does not necessarily deny certain facts which the reports of men places in front us, rather it seeks to know  by whose report and authority. It seeks to know if the report represents the absolute truth. For those who are of faith, we told that only God holds the absolute truth, as a result when we are presented with such reports as these we take it to the Lord in prayer, we do so in order that we might get his own opinion, because faith tells us that report of men falls short of the report of God.

Are you saying we should discard such report and refuse to act on it? Not really, if anything we do not stop exercising hope just because of this report, rather we allow our response and outlook to be shaped only by the report of God.

Faith also teaches that God in his sovereignty may allow the report of men to stand, not because he cannot change it or because such report is absolute, the truth is even when he allows such reports to stand, there is still a greater level of information hidden in God, which he makes available to those who have learnt and purposed in their heart to believe only in the report of God.

Whenever we are tempted to put a seal of finality on the report of men, let us be reminded by the response of God to Abraham and Sarah as a result of their holding unto the report of men...God said to them…."Is there anything too hard for me to do?".
