Philipians 3:12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.

Another year has rolled by, one that holds all manner of memories for those who survived and by the gracious mercies of the Lord have been ushered into a new one. Of course these memories would be different from person to person, for some their memories of the past year or years would be that which they are nostalgic about, one that was pleasant and they would hope they can continue to experience going forward.

But for others, the memories of the previous year would be one they would love to forget as quickly as possible because it is one which leaves unsavoury taste in the mouth. Still to be found in this category are those whose memory of past year holds nothing but a continuation of the incessant struggle which life continues to throw in their way and as a result most likely to be found here, are people who are on the verge of throwing in the towel, if they haven't done so already.

In the light of this therefore scripture verse for today would convey different message to a number of people depending on their experience. Nevertheless, the core message revealed in this scripture is one which informs us that whatever the journey of life might have thrown in our way, our ultimate destination in this life is inseparably tied to one goal..One which the scripture described as our call in Christ. Therefore, as long as we continue to draw breath of air and whatever our lot is in life, we must be reminded that we are yet to attain to the fullness of that goal. We must be reminded that for as long as we sojourn here on earth, the goal of our calling in Christ must remain in focus and should be seen as an endeavour which we as believers must continue to give ourselves diligently to. We must understand that as believers, every other activity and endeavour we engage ourselves in or encounter in this life remain secondary to this goal,  we must understand therefore they are either bringing us closer or taking us away from this goal.
