John 6:49 -50

Your forefathers ate the manna in the desert, yet they died. But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which a man may eat and not die.

Beware of folly....

Proverbs 19:3 A person’s own folly leads to their ruin, yet their heart rages against the Lord.
Note carefully, the scripture is not saying that we are completely immuned from folly , rather the scripture warns us about the consequences of a life given over to the way of folly. It is talking about a man or woman who makes folly their life time companion, saying if a man continues in that path, there is only one outcome.

We all in our imperfection have fallen for the charms of folly at one time or the other, but we were saved from the ruins which it inflicts because we decided not to make him(folly) our soul mate. This is what this scrizpture verse tries to convey to us and this is expanded further for us here

Psalm 1:1-3 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.

One of the reasons why the scripture counsels and raises awareness about the way of folly is because...wait for is the way of the majority. Therefore is it easy to find i and to follow it ,subsequently become established in it. A little folly here or there and if care is not taken, it becomes the way of life sooner than later. One does not need to go far to locate folly, as a matter of fact it is knocking on the door and at a decibel much higher than that of wisdom. This is the reason why many locate him easily and make him their best friend.

Therefore, if one is not sensitised to the way of folly in time, it is easy to make one's bed with him and share in the reward which those who have befriended him in the past shared. It is pertinent to know that, the one who befriends folly, such has also placed their destiny in his hands. A man cannot befriend folly and believe that folly does not have any influence on his destiny, to subscribe to that notion i would say is one of the symptons of the one who is already under the spell of folly.

If the way of folly leads to ruin, then the way of wisdom leads to prosperity. Therefore for every believer, there is the need to give heed to the practical counsel which the scripture gives even on spiritual matters. It is sad when a man or woman is given to the way of folly, while ignoring every counsel which the deep wisdom hidden in the precepts of God enriches us with. It is sad to see such rage against God after ignorlng his counsel clearly spelt out. Sad still is when such expend themselves needlessly running from one prophet to another in search of solution , when they have rejected the truth.

I am amazed sometimes when we try to spiritualise what simple practical wisdom called common sense imparts, and that is a form of folly in itself, one which many believers tend to give themselves to. May God deliver us from the way of folly.
