John 3:16

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

What makes our fate in this life as believers different from others?

Mathew 7:24 -27 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

One of the many blind spots in our walk of faith is revealed by the message from today's passage. Let us ask the question, what makes our fate in this life as believers different from others? Bear with me a little when i use the word 'believers', it is a bit loose in its application, but our Lord tightened this by clarifying for us the true meaning of what a believer is....he described such as..'everyone who hears and obeys his words by putting them to use'.

Now we ask the question, are they given free passage in life just because they are believers? Are they excused from the realities of the fallen world of man on the account of their being believers?

If we spend time to reflect on the scripture we will discover that i would be telling you a lie if i tell you that just because you are a believer you will be spared from the challenges of life. Hear what our Lord said of the fate confronting the two categories of people he addressed his sermon to;

'And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house'

Whatever dreams , whatever plans, whatever aspirations both categories of people nurtured as represented by the house they built, was subjected to the same realities of living in the fallen world of man , it came under trials, setbacks, difficulties, challenges, attacks,frustration and discouragement...they both faced the rain, the floods and the winds of life...both were exposed to the realities of life.

You are not facing challenges because you do not believe, but unbelief will not help you to overcome the challenges. You are not facing adversities because of unbelief, but unbelief is the reason why many who profess faith will be defeated by adversities. Listen the house did not go down solely because of the rain, floods and winds that blew against it..these were bound to happen, rather it went down because it was not built according to the specifications that would allow it to withstand these conditions.

The faith which the word of God equips us with, does not immune us from the elements of this life let no one be deceived by sweet words of men, rather this faith equips us to be able to withstand and overcome them. It equips us with everything that we need to stand through the thick and thin of life, providing courage where it is needed and comfort where it becomes essential for the journey of life. Faith is not given to make life easier, rather it is given to equip us to make a better life while confronting the challenges which life throws at us from time to time.

Matthew 1:20-21
“But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, ?Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.?”
