Isaiah 55 : 1-2

Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labour on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.

Appreciating the gift on offer in Christ Jesus

I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. - Ezekiel 11:19

The gift of God that is his salvation which we as followers of Christ have come into remains a priceless one, and this becomes apparent as we explore its true value by looking at the numerous benefits it delivers to us. There are several aspect of this gift that we ought to savour and in the process lift up our hearts in praise and thanksgiving to the one who has graciously bestowed unto us by grace this wonderful gift.

To start with, we acknowledge how undeserving we are , yet God's mercy and love expressed through grace offered to us his salvation. We appreciate our restoration into his presence as a result of our sins being forgiven and wiped away, our guilt scrubbed away and condemnation removed far away from us. As we explore the gift we see the wonderful promises on offer as we abide in his presence , as we thrive in the favor and peace that we now have in him through Christ, our hearts fill up with hope and our praise of him become even more profound.

But there remains an essential element that needed to be taken care of in order for us to be able to come to this place where we can truly savor this gift. God identified this element as the root of man's woes and troubles, the seed of sin that defiles him is sown there and provides a conducive environment to thrive. You see , rebellion which eventually results in sin finds a conducive environment to be sown, nurtured and tended in the environment provided by this element...this element is the heart of the fallen man, the one who was born in the image of Adam. God diagnosed the heart of the fallen man and woman, this was his verdict

Genesis 6:5 The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.

As part of the gift of salvation God promised that he would fix the condition of our hearts. This he promised to do, in order that we who have been ordained for his salvation might be equipped with what is needed to be able to benefit from the riches which it promises. If you are willing and obedient, then you will eat the good of the Lord says God to prophet Isaiah. But how can a man or woman with a hardened and rebellious heart do this? The word of God, his instructions, commandments and tenets remains the path into every blessing on offer...yet how can a hardened heart comply in obedience and humility. Only the humble and meek can thrive in his presence, once again, those with a hardened, rebellious and prideful heart fall way short of this.

This where we begin to appreciate this wonderful promise which comes as part of the gift of God's salvation, doing so by understanding that he is the one who gives to us the ability to do according to his good will...doing so by giving us a new heart.

1 Corinthians 15:55-57
“?Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
