Psalm 1: 2-3

Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

Are you a good Ambassador

Be wise in the way you act towards outsiders, make the most of every opportunity Colossians 4:5.

As a disciple of Christ living in a world that is fast turning away from God because it claims to find religion obsolete and inadequate to address issues in the so called evolving modern world, where do I stand and what is my role in helping the world to see the true light that the gospel represents and the power it confers for the salvation of all mankind?

In a world that views religion with distrust as a result of the activities of those that can best be described as the agents of the of the anti Christ Spirit, men and women who working from within and outside of the church have done untold damage to the reputation of the church, bringing the name of the Lord into disrepute in the process. The question is, how does the way I live my life help to correct or re-enforce this sad trend?

As disciples of Jesus the earlier we understand our role as Ambassadors for the kingdom of God and the image of Christ and God to the world the better for us all. The earlier we recognise that as citizens of God's kingdom we owe it a duty as good citizens to project a positive image of the kingdom to the world.

Jesus referred to those who are called to be his disciples first as the salt by saying;

You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavour, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.- Mathew 5:13.

Speaking about their role as the salt of the earth, Jesus said if they lose their flavour especially the properties that qualifies them as a salt, then they are no longer useful for any purpose. Could this be the reason why the word is drifting away from faith, could it be that the reason why the way of faith is being ridiculed and what we believe and stand for is being trampled underfoot by men and women of the world? Could it be that we have become salts that have lost it's seasoning and preservative abilities, as a result is only fit to be spit out and discarded? These are sad questions to be asking especially if we truly understand our role as the salt, and see ourselves as the Ambassadors and Priests representing the Kingdom and the Church of Christ in a world in need of God's salvation.

Jesus went further to also refer to his disciples as the light of the earth;

You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. - Mathew 5: 14- 16.

This time, reminding all of his disciples of their uniqueness and how much they ought to stand out in the world due to the role which they have been given as the light to the rest of the world. This is the light that draws all men and women by showing and leading them upwards the high moral ground. This is the light that not only draws men and women to God, but a light that draws them to the love and mercy of God as revealed through the gift of salvation that is on offer through Jesus. This is the light that draws men and women out of the kingdom of darkness, bringing them to the place where they can experience the salvation that would deliver them into the kingdom of light. If that light does not shine of what use is it? As lights of the world, the instruction is that our light should so shine before the world so that it can bring glory to God. How does this light shine you may ask? Well through my good works, the very works that as an ambassador of the kingdom i am called to do.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. – Mathew 5:16

The light stops shining when i stop doing these good works, when i stop obeying the instructions of God and start living by the flesh contrary to the spirit, that light becomes dim and it is only a matter of time before it is no longer useful, Could that be the reason why faith is now becoming irrelevant in the life of the people. Of what use is a flash-light that does not bring forth light?

In the light of the teachings of Jesus therefore, we need to begin to ask ourselves how do I carry and conduct myself in such a way and manner that does not reek of self importance, does not border on hypocrisy and is non condescending towards the outside world, yet in such a way as to draw the rest of the world to the light of salvation that is in the gospel. How do I as an Ambassador of the Kingdom represent both the Kingdom and the King of the kingdom in such a way and manner that brings him honour and glory from the world that he created to bring him glory. At the moment the world it appears has formed an opinion about the God, the Church and believers, an opinion that is formed from believers who have stopped acting as salt and whose light has dimmed out. Do we help reinforce this opinion or do we help correct the error of judgement.  We therefore as citizens of the Kingdom of God need to ask ourselves these questions and go back to the God on our knees crying for the help that is required to enable us live as true Ambassadors of the Kingdom.

1 Corinthians 15:55-57
“?Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
